Since I’m usually in court a few days a week, tailored suits are a must. Navy is classic but not as hot as black for summer months. A patterned blouse with little details like buttoned keyholes on the sleeves and ruffled trim down the front and sleeves help keep a tailored suit from being too stuffy. I love that this blouse adds a bright contrast, but staying in the blue family keeps the look from being shocking. But, with any sheer blouse, I always recommend a matching (or contrasting) fitted tank underneath – your bra should never be fully visible in a professional environment. Cuffed blazer sleeves help keep cool when walking to and from the courthouse and add a more casual feel if you keep your jacket on around the office.

A printed bow and ruffled sleeves

Patterned Bow Pencil Dress & Chiffon Trim Sweater: Ann Taylor (similar sweater);
Suede Chain Pump: Calvin Klein via DSW (similar here or here)

Dresses are always what I grab first in the summer months.  Pair with a sweater (or blazer) for the chilly office air conditioning and you’re set! The patterned, chiffon fabric and ruffled shoulders add a little something to keep this dress from being boring or stuffy. Bonus: the sheer top has an attached half slip so you don’t have to worry about an additional tank top creeping up all day.
